The 50th Anniversary of Pirogov’s scientific, doctor’s and public activity.
The celebration of Pirogov’s jubilee took place in May 1881 in Moscow. Many representatives from Universities, scientific societies, hospitals and other organizations arrived.
Foreign universities and scientific societies congratulated the great scientist.
Pirogov became an honorary citizen of Moscow.
Pirogov’s jubilee has become the greatest triumph of science, truth and popular absolution.
The documents, photos, paintings and graphic art tell about the great event. Pirogov’s portrait by Ilya Repin is the main at the Exposition. Among the exhibits there are portraits of Nikolai Pirogov and Theodore Billroth with their personalized inscriptions. In the show-cases there are greeting cards of Moscow, Kharkiv, Kyiv and other Universities, the Red Cross Society and public organizations.
